Jeremy Jensen
Born in Kamloops, B.C, Jeremy first studied at the University of Victoria where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Slavonic Studies. He continued his studies overseas, spending a year in St. Petersburg, Russia attending the St.Petersburg State University doing graduate studies. In 2000, he moved to Christchurch, New Zealand where he obtained his Law degree and subsequently a Masters of Law degree from the University of Canterbury. Upon graduation, he practiced law in New Zealand for two years focusing mainly on Indigenous (Maori) rights. His work in New Zealand consisted of working as in-house counsel for Ngai Tahu Corporation – one of the largest commercial enterprises in New Zealand. His involvement was primarily in Treaty issues and delivering submissions to the Parliamentary Constitutional Arrangements Committee and advising on issues of Indigenous incarceration rates to the United Nations Special Rapporteur.
Jeremy returned to Canada with his wife and two children in 2006 and was called to the B.C Bar in 2007. He practices law with his father, Peter Jensen, focusing on criminal defence work.
Jeremy is passionate about the outdoors – especially mountaineering and has climbed various mountains in the European Alps, Himalayas, New Zealand Alps, Russia (Siberia) and the Canadian Rockies.
